In the Northern Hemisphere, the north face of a mountain is generally the coldest, iciest and most formidable route to climb. The North Face founders thought this name reflected their mission and dedication to the extreme.
The North Face logo was inspired by the Half Dome in Yosemite, revered as one of the greatest big walls in the world. The North Face logo was created as their interpretation of this great wall.
